Loma

Our original plaster, Loma brings rich textures and rustic charm to any room. Capable of both subtle matte striations of color as well as heavily textured depth and complexity, Loma is a highly versatile and adaptable finish well-suited for a wide variety of styles. Loma's easy-to-apply nature, range of applications and natural beauty make it an excellent choice for both first-time homeowners and established designers.

Made from a variety of clays, aggregate, mineral pigments and a non-toxic mold inhibitor, Loma serves as the primary base for each American Clay plaster. Mica chips, shredded straw, recycled colored glass and other additives are also available to enhance the surface of our Loma plaster.

Available in 50 lbs. bags. Covers 180 to 220 square feet in one coat per bag, depending on the substrate.

Porcelina

With a smooth, rich finish, Porcelina imbues an area with the elegance and sophistication of marble. The sleek, most smooth finish we offer, Porcelina invokes the majesty of the Venetian masters, providing color and texture you can become lost in for hours. Ideal for decadent designs as well as for the Old World European feel of a secluded villa, Porcelina offers a superior look to acrylic and lime finishes without the need for sanding or buffing.

Porcelina is made from the same variety of clays, aggregate, mineral pigments and non-toxic mold inhibitor as Loma, but with a finer aggregate, and is available in the same colors. Due to its consistency, prior plastering experience or the assistance of a professional applicator is recommended for this plaster. American Clay offers classes which can also teach you how to create some of the more complex looks Porcelina can achieve. Because this plaster goes on thinner, it costs about the same per square foot as our Loma.

Available in 50 lbs. bags. Covers 300-350 square feet per 50 lb. bag in one coat over a base coat of American Clay Loma.

Marittimo

Crushed seashells grant Marittimo a soft, speckled look and texture. Despite the delicate and subtle appearance, the seashell aggregate makes Marittimo the most durable of all our finishes. Inspired by the colors and temperament of the Mediterranean, Marittimo reminds of the warm, calming beauty of the ocean and brings the live and tranquility of the beach into your home.

Marittimo goes over a base coat of Loma, and is as easy to apply as Loma. It is our most durable plaster, and costs a bit more per square foot than Loma and Porcelina. Made of a variety of clays, crushed sea shells, natural mineral pigments and a non-toxic mold inhibitor. The same pigments used in Loma and Porcelina will appear a shade darker or grayer in Marittimo.

Available in 50 lb. bags. Covers 160-180 square feet per 50 lb. bag in one coat over a base coat of American Clay Loma.

Enjarre

Designed for commercial projects, Enjarre is an easy-to-apply, easy-to-repair plaster that can spray-applied in a single pass. Enjarre readily bonds drywall, masonry, plasterboard and existing painted surfaces while providing the same high-end, natural finish as all American Clay products. Made from 70 percent recycled content, this plaster comes in eight attractive colors and can achieve a variety of textures and stylized finishes.

Each Enjarre finish is non-toxic, odor-absorbent, mold-resistant, non-fading, and easy to store and repair. In addition to the 70 percent recycled content, all packaging is recyclable.

Available in 80 lb. bags. Each 36.3 kg (80 lb) bag covers 150-180 square feet in one pass over level I or level II drywall prep.

Lime Putty

American Clay has released a pure high-calcium lime putty to be used in conjunction with their line of award-winning earth plasters – Loma, Porcelina, Marittimo, and Enjarre. Clay plasters are a natural alternative to many wall-coverings available on the market, and have many benefits, including breathability, mold & mildew resistance, and humidity-buffering qualities. Why use lime with the clay? The addition of lime, either by mixing it with the clay plaster (called gauging) or diluting it with water and brushing it across a clay surface (limewash) offers a variety of new features desired by some of our artisans. A clay surface treated with lime will be brighter in color, harder than without the addition of lime, and more resistant to water. American Clay’s ease of use offers artisans a wide range of beautiful effects, and we are happy to introduce these new, professional-level options to expand its possibilities. Additionally, this domestically-produced putty is one of relatively few on the market that is eligible for LEED points in the green building process. Artisans with this option are able to maintain a competitive edge in today’s market.
